As the patrons vote, so shall it be. We’ve got a shiny new update for The Last Angel: Pets. Caitlin and Calvin have been making the most out of the situation as a pirate lord’s adopted children. Though to be fair, it’s the only life they’ve ever known and the only knowledge of their real parents is that they abandoned them as infants. That doesn’t leave a solid foundation for trust, nor does growing up in a pirate clan.
They could probably use a friend or two. Maybe even one in high places…

“Congratulations,” growled Prosibe from his station. “You’ve started a war.”
“You think this is our fault?!” Caitlin demanded incredulously.“He’s trying to kill us!”
“He didn’t launch until you did,” the Pedlar snapped.
“You’re right,” Calvin interrupted before Caitlin could say more. He signalled her to focus on Sky Spider’s situation as he turned to confront their first officer. “He only launched as soon as he saw we did.” He let that statement sit for a second. “Look at the time stamps between our launch and his. As soon as he saw. He hasn’t hailed us, tried to find out what’s going on. He launched the instant we did. Do you understand that, submissive? He had that torpedo already in the tube.” Calvin jabbed a finger at the main screen and the incoming ordnance. “That had our name on it the instant he was told we were coming.”
“You have an excuse for everything,” Prosibe sneered. “Every time you need to run quaking back to your father’s nest, you have a reason for it. Very clever reasons, but cleverness doesn’t cover up the smell of cowardice and right now, there’s twin trails of fear-piss dripping down off this ship’s thrones. Only this time, little pets, your fear might cost you – and us – our lives.” The sneer deepened, pulling his thick lips back from his muzzle. “It’s certainly going to cost other members of the Family theirs.”
“If you have nothing constructive to add, submissive,” Calvin told him coolly, “Then be silent and focus on your work. If I or your other leader need your input, we will request it.”
The Pedlar threw a mocking salute, grunting as he turned back to his console, taking a quick swig of the flask in his jacket.
Three of Sky Spider’s missiles reached Luckbreaker. The first struck hard, cutting a chunk from the frigate’s primary hull, but the damage was minimal. The other two splashed their deadly plumes harmlessly across the frigate’s freshly energized screens. The other seven missiles were cut down by the larger ship’s defences or lost target lock as hostile jamming disrupted their augurs. One hit. That was all they’d managed and that only because they’d surprised Kuraka.
