All the little lost boys and girls, Ch 75

This month’s second update, as requested by my patrons, is a new chapter for All the little lost boys and girls. With data from their recent battle, confirmation from their cooperative guest and (perhaps) assistance from their uncooperative guest, Duty Before Glory will be ready to take the fight to DROP 47 and the nightmares within it that the Imperium is preparing to unleash upon the galaxy.

For the whole story, check out the links above. For a snippet of an interrogation, check out the below and enjoy!

“Position 32 is the most recent of those facilities, the last stop before all the light fades.” Zaitseva chuckled. “They have this one restaurant that makes the best salmon. Better than anywhere else I’ve been and no one knows about it.”

“Maybe you’ll get a chance to have it again.”

“Yeah,” Chimeg lit up a new jkili stick. “Sure. If they don’t blow you out of the sky the instant they see you. That’s all I know about Position 32. Too bad the only POW willing to help you is Biosciences and not command or nav.”

“We’ll make do.”

“You do that.” The Imperial took a long drag from her jkili. “Look. I know I’ve been a bitch to you, and to be honest, I don’t see that changing any time soon. But,” she sighed. “You did save my life, and the lives of my friends. That’s why I’m telling you some of this, but you don’t want to go to Position 32 and you really don’t want to go into the Mists. You think you want to find what you’re looking for, but take it from me. You don’t. One khunbish was enough to take out my ship and from the stories we heard, there’s a lot more than just them on… in the castle in the dark. Take my advice. Take what you have from Atoll and Pax, from us, from the little monster you’ve got playing with dolls and call it a win. Let someone else be the idiots who go into Acheron. King and country isn’t worth it, clone. Not by half.” She looked over at Kaila. “So tell me what else you need me to talk about.”

The intelligence officer turned on her personal ‘scroll and head its screen towards Zaitseva. On it was a clip of the security feed with Zaitseva coming up to speak to Glass. She pointed to the tall, white-haired man next to the other Imperial officers and scientists. “Who is this?”

In an instant, any sense of well-being or placidity the jikili brought the Imperial woman was gone. All thecolour drained from Zaitseva’s face, turning her rich brown skin an ashen grey. “You didn’t get that from Caleuche. Where did you get that?”

“So you do know who this is-”

“No. I don’t know anything. That wasn’t me. I’ve never seen that man before, and I don’t know who he is.” The other woman practically jumped to her feet. “Get out,” she told the Coalition officer, her demands and excuses coming in a panicked, rapid-fire barrage. “I’m tired, I’m not feeling well, I’m on my period, I’m going to masturbate, I don’t care, just get out. We’re done.”
