My patrons voted, so here is the next chapter of All the little lost boys and girls, with an excerpt from events on DROP 47 and a scientific look their ongoing work.
Enjoy!

It was unnerving to see a product line acting like people, and frustrating when he had to correct his staff when they started to fall for it.
Due to his own research, Justin had to work closely with Everett and the I-7s. As far as he could tell, they were entirely immune to F-2 effects. The I-6 series had been highly resistant, but after prolonged testing, even they started to succumb. The I-7s were a superior product, and he knew Everett was trying to see if the purification of R-series genes was the cause, or the altered blend of human genomes in this batch. Constanza was particularly proud of her work on the former and for assisting in the selection of the latter. Justin was waiting for the final verdict before he made any judgments, but so far ‘superior product’ was an apt term. Unfortunately, that verdict was going to be delayed.
The last sequence of F-2 testing was supposed to have started with Caleuche, usingsubject I-7 2/2 47:ah8jo93 to see how prolonged exposure to F-2 conditions outside of a support structure would impact mental stability and physical attributes, followed by compelling the subject to directly interact with Obelisk 1/1-3.
Justin had been looking forward to the results of those tests. He was certain 2/2 47:ah8jo93 would pass the isolation stress experiment. The little beasts were consistent in that regard, but it was direct exposure to an Obelisk that had captured his attention. The mechanisms immediately destroyed any living tissue lacking R-3 that came into physical contact with them, and without the safeguards he’d spent years developing, they annihilated anything else that came too close. The I-series had survived both proximity to and contact with the sliver, but they had not been able to test the current production line’s resilience against a fully operational Obelisk. Instead, Caleuche had been lost and a Coalition warship was sniffing around.
If they found the station, they’d try and stop his research. They’d take it from him. He couldn’t let that happen. He had to be on guard, making sure no one-
Justin realized Constanza was staring. “Sorry,” he apologized. “I drifted off for a moment. You were saying?”
